Objectives
- The existing water harvesting from a hole in the ground is the reason for the high incidence of diarrhoea and other stomach issues. The female boarders, in particular, suffer from chronic stomach problems. In Msimbati Secondary School the female borders have to walk half a kilometre to collect water.
- The seriousness of the problem was clear and the Wentworth Foundation team put in place a plan to construct a very simple, easy to maintain water harvesting system that was large enough in volume to provide water year round.
